We're thrilled to present the 2022 International Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition winner, Julia Danielle, backed by the Jeremy Kahn Quartet, in her debut St. Charles Jazz Weekend performance!
Julia Danielle is an up-and-coming vocalist, arranger, educator, and composer based in the heart of the vibrant jazz scene of Chicago. Her classical voice and opera training at Northwestern University laid the solid foundation for Julia to now bend and blend the lines of classic and contemporary jazz and soul music.
Julia has had the opportunity to perform alongside staples of the scene including bassists Clark Sommers and Dennis Carroll, drummers George Fludas and Isaiah Spencer, pianist Jeremy Kahn, and saxophonists Sharel Cassity and Isaiah Collier.
While this performance marks Julia's first St. Charles appearance, she sings in many leading Chicao area jazz venues, including The Jazz Showcase, Andy’s Jazz Club, Winter’s Jazz Club, Elastic Arts, and The Fulton Street Collective, as well as at fusion venues like Lincoln Hall, Martyrs, Schubas Tavern, GMan Tavern, and The Golden Dagger.
Jeremy Kahn has become a familiar presence and audience favorite during recent seasons of Norris-produced concerts at the Baker Community Center.
Born near Chicago, Jeremy earned a piano performance degree from Boston's New England Conservatory. He lived in New York City for twelve action-packed years, and now resides in Oak Park. Although Jeremy is mainly a jazz pianist, having played in jazz-type venues around the world, he also plays in pit orchestras at leading Chicago area theaters.
Jeremy has performed with a veritable "who's who" of jazz and pop, including Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Joni Mitchell, Phil Woods, Teramasu Hino, Charlie Haden, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Cook, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and everyone in between.
